Many of us are planning on staying in for Valentine's Day this year and there are many fun things we can do to make it super special and memorable for our loves. Here are some simple and fun ideas you can consider:

1. Family Friendly: Remember when we were in grade-school and it was SO fun and exciting to decorate our special "Valentine Box" for all our classmates to see? We would wait in anticipation for our friends to drop by our desk and share a fun Valentine with us. I sure do! I would start planning what mine was going to look like as soon as February 1st came around. A fun family night idea you can organize is to have everyone decorate their own special Valentine Boxes together. Make some homemade Valentine's Cards and enjoy sharing your sweet messages with one another. The kiddos will get a kick out of seeing the adults participate. A fun way to celebrate at home together.

2. Family Friendly: Who says decorating cookies is for Christmas time only? There are some darling valentine cookie cutters you can pick up from Amazon (linked below) and enjoy a fun evening decorating together. Of course you get to enjoy them for dessert after dinner!

3. Family Friendly: I LOVE this idea! Slip a special hand-made Valentine Dinner invitation into everyone's room for them to find. The invitation formally invites them to a dinner that you are planning "at your home" of course, but you are making it a formal/fancy/fun night! On the invitation, give them the date, time, dress code and if you require them to bring anything along. I think it's fun to have everyone dress up. You can decorate your table with candles, cloth napkins, and even breakout your nice dishes if you want to... or you can keep is super causal, this is your dinner date to create! It's fun to plan a themed dinner too. My favorite is a simple spaghetti dinner with some Italian themed music playing in the background to set the scene. Maybe have a special card and a small chocolate heart at each place setting. Enjoy a fun family date night out "in".

4. You can plan a romantic night in using the idea from #3 above... be creative in how you send your invitation though. Not a typical text, do a hand-written or a printed invitation that you can mail to his/her home. This will make it more special! We don't send much mail these days so take the time to make it special and unique. He/she will show up and you can enjoy a nice candlelit dinner, maybe create a playlist that you both will love and enjoy a few dances in the kitchen, and the rest is up to you! Movie, play a game, cuddle, or just fall asleep!

5. I always think its fun to let someone's creative side shine and planning a fun date night for Valentine's Day can be the perfect time! You can buy a couple of canvases, some acrylic paint and brushes, order your favorite dinner in, and have a sweet night painting together. You can Google several fun images of canvas paintings to be inspired, but it would be fun to have each of you create a special Valentine painting for one another...not sharing the final creative work of art until they are both done! Enjoy a bottle of wine and let it be a fun stress-free evening to remember.

We have the ability to make the most special memories with our families and friends out of simple life moments... I hope you are inspired by these ideas.
