On this post I am going to share some helpful tips for arranging your treasure finds and accessories into a gorgeous visuals that help to create a mood in your home and also ensure your look is pulled together in a polished manner.
A key to designer-worthy style in your home is to arrange vignettes, or groupings, around your home usually on tables, side-tables, coffee tables, shelving units, dressers, countertops, window ledges and even that corner of your garden tub. You can use accessories like candles, vases, greenery, pictures, or other personal/meaningful items to create the mood or the way you want to feel when you enter that room and look at that space. Here are some helpful ideas for creating those stunning vignettes in your home: 1. Design your vignette with a light as your central focus. This is especially helpful if your arrangement is in a dark corner, you don't want it to be missed. Try building your vignette around a lamp, flameless candle, or lantern with fairy lights in it.
2. Choose objects to support the style and theme of your room. It's important not to mix too many themes in your room as it can appear to be cluttered and unorganized. If your room is formal, a symmetrical design is recommended. If the room is casual, asymmetrical groupings are better to ignite the more comfortable mood. 3. Ensure you have a color palette in your vignette to coordinate your room. Usually you have a dominant color in the room and you are safe to choose items in shades that complement the dominant color. 4. Display objects in odd numbers. Groups of three or five work particularly well and are stronger visually than a group of two or four. 5. Vary the height of the objects. Use small pedestals, candlesticks, and various textured boxes to elevate items. You can even stack books to create bases for smaller items. 6. Create depth - this is important. Place objects from the back of the flat surface to the front instead of in a straight line the length of the surface. This is where a lot of people make mistakes in decorating. A creative idea is to place objects on top of a mirror, or lean them against a mirror that's on the wall to create a sense of dimension. 7. Infuse different textures by mixing your décor with perhaps hard and shiny accessories. Consider adding some wood and stone for a natural look or even some iron architectural elements to introduce an industrial texture depending on your style.
